Luis Miguel Ramis: “Today’s win is an important booster”

Osasuna head coach Luis Miguel Ramis praised his team's victory over Celta during a press conference, emphasizing the significance of the win for the club and its supporters.

"This helps; it's what we all want. We play and compete to give our fans nights like this, especially at such an important stadium against a team playing in European competition and that started the season so well. Coming here and winning is a big boost for us. We're very happy to have done it, knowing that winning away from home is very difficult and that we're capable of doing it.

What I always expect—and I have always said this—is that our fans will not let us down. They follow us unconditionally, but this strengthens everything: for them, for us, and it helps all of us look forward with a little more peace of mind. It's a process the team must endure to keep growing. I'm delighted with how El Sadar supports and pushes the players. If at any time we don't perform well and receive criticism, we have to accept it because we're professionals. But we feel very supported and receive a lot of warmth when we play at home," Ramis said.

Ramis also highlighted the importance of securing all three points, noting that the result provides the team with greater confidence and calm.

"The three points are very important under any circumstances and, if anything, even more so now because it gives us peace of mind. What brings the most confidence and calm are the results, which is why it's important numerically. But I've spoken to the group, and it was very important for us, beyond the result, to feel that we can also compete with strength away from home and look any opponent in the eye.

Sometimes the game goes better, sometimes worse, but the team is capable. The stress from last season's competition made us play a bit more nervously. I said it last week, and it happened to us. We needed to shake that off, and there was no better place than away from home to do so. I already said we shouldn't miss any opportunity, and it's true that the match, with the sending off, worked a bit more in our favor, allowing us to be a bit bolder, look forward, control the game more, and feel stronger. Fortunately, the result came with that. We worked the game well, and I sincerely believe we deserved to win," the coach added.

Addressing the flow of the match and the numerical advantage his team gained in the second half, Ramis acknowledged how the sending off changed the dynamics of the game.

"The red card changed a lot of things, of course. I don't know how the match would have played out otherwise. It obviously would have been much more competitive and balanced. We knew that, even with one player less, they would give everything in the final minutes, with long balls, getting into the box, battling for second balls, set-piece situations, and corners where everything evens out. We knew this would happen, but the team managed and countered it very well. It gave us an advantage, clearly.

I think we got into the game quickly because [midfielder] Kike's [Barja] goal came early, and then the penalty gave us even more peace of mind. I believe we managed the minutes after equalizing and taking the lead very well in possession, not giving them many options, knowing they'd press us in the final minutes. I'm very happy because the match showed a lot of personality and maturity," Ramis said.
